XY…. Why?

December 7, 2007

Truth: Most men are freakin’ weirdos. The rest, for the most part, are relatively normal except that in secret, they are also freakin’ weirdos. The last category is reserved for the few, the true, the all- around decent good guys.

(Don’t worry, most of you reading this blog I would willingly place in the 3rd catgeory).

Before you all go a-protesting my sweeping generalizations, case in point: I’m wearing a skirt (not too short) with tall black boots. A man in a parking lot feels the need to say to me “Those are the best looking legs I’ve seen all winter, makes me miss summer.” That = freakin’ weirdo. Men, you should never EVER feel the need to stop, unsolicited, and remark on a random woman’s appearance. She will assume you want to cut off said legs, and put them in your trunk.

  1. Oh Jessie…you and those legs of yours. Some might say you deserved such a weirdo compliment because you chose to wear boots with a skirt.

For those that say such things, I say that women tend to give out compliments towards things we wish we had ourselves…it’s a polite way to share our envy and congratulate the beholder. So, in case a man actually wants to have women legs instead of manly man legs…he should keep weird comments to himself.

  2. Just in case anyone subscribes to the “all men are sex freaks” theory… it should be noted that recent studies are showing that women’s use of pornography is actually going up at a dramatically greater rate than men’s use. Now the argument could be said that the reason for this is that so many men already view pornography on a regular basis (50% of Christian leaders @ Promise Keepers event a few years back).

I think sexuality in general is the big problem, and not homosexuality, or men being more sexually inappropriate than women, etc. I think everyone struggles with this issue in one shape or another. It’s interesting too that where Scripture says to “resist” most forms of temptation, it says to “flee” sexual temptation. There’s also the stuff about sexual sin being sin against your own body.. that kind of stuff.

Anyway, I think the guy’s comment was completely inappropriate, and not flattering in any way. There are nicer ways to comment on a woman’s legs, probably the best of which is not to comment at all. But, boots and a skirt in the middle of winter? I’m not going there.

I’m also not going to mention the studies that have recently come out linking the use of social networking sites to decreased porn visits. But that is very interesting as well

    Tim

  3. The same thing happened to me yesterday!
